Editing My Novel
The editing work has been intense on my forthcoming crime novel THE MISSING HUSBAND. If all goes to plan, and my editor agrees to the changes we are working upon, then the novel will be published in 2019.
Apart from the usual work in editing, spelling, grammar, cutting long sentences etc. To improve the novel, we have worked to include finer layers in the novel, notably local colour and greater atmosphere. I have also had to improve the dialogue and the reactions to the character's speech, which on the initial draft had generally been rushed through. This new draft now has improved the novel to the next stage. It has made it more 'sophisticated,' if I may say so myself.
Every writer feels happier when their novel is improved.
This is the thing with novels or any work of art, you have to take your time and work hard on the details. The readers will hopefully appreciate the writing, and say, that is a good, well-written book. Any other praise beyond that is a bonus.

Shots in the Dark anthology
Two of my shorts will be published in this anthology on 8th June, 18 by Crocus Books. There are some terrific short story writers contributing to this collection. The launch party is in Manchester and I hope people will buy lots of copies!
It is always a nice feeling to see your work in print.
